Romans believed that every strange event was the cause
of the gods they also believed that gods were everywhere in daily life so they
spent a lot of time worshiping them. At temples priests sacrificed animals to
the god or goddess of that temple. Also in the temple there would be an Auger
(predictor) who read the entrails of the sacrificed animal. Few ignored an Augers
advice.
In Roman homes there would be a small alter. Lares were house gods and some citizens were more eager to please them then the big gods.
Ancient Romans honoured four main values: family, friends, possessions and honour.
