Some stories were about Romulus and Remus, baby Mercury, Pandora’s Box, and a few other minor ones. The most famous story is about Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. They were dumped in the Tiber River as babies, found and raised by the wolf Lupa and then fought to decide who would be founder. Romulus won by killing his brother and we think that’s where the name Rome came from.
Romans borrowed and changed most of Greek gods & goddesses and Italian religions.
Here are some of the gods and goddesses of Roman mythology:
Cupid – God of love Dirae – punishers also known as furies - Greek form Erinyes Hercules – adventurer – Heracles Janus – Italian god of beginnings Juno – sky goddess – Hera Jupiter – sky god - Zeus Justitia – goddess of justice – Dite Mars – god of war – Ares Mercury – messenger god Hermes Neptune – god of water - Poseidon Ops – goddess of harvest - Rhea Pax – goddess of peace Penates – household gods Quirinus – early war god - Romulus Saturn – Italian god of corn - Cronos Sol – sun god Tellus – earth goddess - Gaea Venus – love goddess - Aphrodite Vulcan – god of fire – Hephaistos
Overall Romans didn't really have that many of their own Gods and Goddesses.
